The Essential Science Indicators® home page contains links and buttons to each of the main functions and editorial pages. Click the Home button in the toolbar on the other pages whenever you wish to return to the home page.

Here is a list of the links and buttons on the home page.


Scientists

Accesses the Scientists Menu where you can find the highly cited scientists.

Institutions

Accesses the Institutions Menu where you can find the highly cited institutions.

Countries/Territories

Accesses the Countries/Territories Menu where you can find the highly cited countries/territories.

Journals

Accesses the Journals Menu where you can find the highly cited journals.

Highly Cited Papers

Accesses the Highly Cited Papers Menu where you can find the highly cited papers over the last 10 years.

Hot Papers

Accesses the Hot Papers Menu where you can find the highly cited papers over the last two years.

Baselines

Accesses the Baselines Menu where you can access the:

  • Average Citation Rates table, which shows the average number of citations received by every article in each field;
  • Percentiles table, which shows the number of citations required to be in the top X percent of a field; and
  • Field Rankings table, which shows the ranking of each field of research.

Research Fronts

Accesses the Research Fronts Menu where you can find groups of highly cited papers in a specialized topic.

In-Cites

Accesses the in-cites editorial page, which is a collection of stories and commentary pertaining to the scientists, institutions, journals, countries/territories, and papers listed in the rankings. This page opens in a new browser window.

Special Topics

Accesses the Special Topics editorial page, which presents an in-depth look at selected subject fields, based on an analysis of each field's literature.

Science Watch

Accesses the Science Watch® newsletter, which features a citation-based analysis of the latest and hottest in basic research.

Notices

Click Notices to view important information about Essential Science Indicators, including information on the latest data update.

Tutorial

Click Tutorial to view a walk-through tutorial on the important features of Essential Science Indicators.
